A new article has been published in The
European Respiratory Journal which reviews the evidence behind various measures
for the prevention of ventilator-associated pneumonia.

The review is based on a review of the
evidence from the literature and the guidelines for prevention of VAP produced
by:
- European Task Force 2001
- Centre for Disease Control and Prevention 2004
- American Thoracic Society and Infectious Diseases Society of
America 2005
|
Among the non pharmacological measures
reviewed were the use of Continuous Lateral Rotation Therapy via specialised
support systems and Semi-Recumbent positioning.
